Cristiano Ronaldo is often billed as the favorite for the next Golden Ball. But is his victory assured?
Here is what Cristiano Ronaldo had to say about him winning the Golden Ball 2016:
” The Golden Ball ? It is still too early. Obviously, I’d love to say this is decided already, but it’s not my decision. I enjoy the moment and of course I would be very happy to win the Ballon d’Or. But there is still a lot of matches and goals to score.”
Serene about the Golden Ball in mid-October, Cristiano Ronaldo is billed as the favorite after his double Champions League-Euro 2016 titles. But since the finals of these events, at which he did not shine and was even subbed during the Euro final for being injured, the Portuguese player is struggling and is not at his top level.
And worse for him, Leo Messi is in better shape.
Recovering from an injury, Cristiano Ronaldo saw a difficult start to the season. He has not scored at the Bernabeu last month, for example. During that time, Lionel Messi has fully digested its final Copa America lost a few weeks after a double King Cup and Liga Champion. Statistically, Leo Messi is better than Cristiano Ronaldo at the moment, with 13 goals and 4 assists in 9 games with FC Barcelona. If the trend continues in the coming weeks, is Cristiano Ronaldo sure to win the Golden Ball or can it be reversed?
I doubt it to be honest but we never know. We will see what happens by following the football news and football highlights live.
